different blogs on different subdomains

I want to set up 2 different blogs, each on a different subdomain of my main site. I'm not sure how to go about doing this on the back end: do I need to install Wordpress on each subdomain, each with their own corresponding MySQL database or...?

I'm a total novice on MySQL so please make it as easy for me as possible - if I have to go in to edit anything in the database, I'm likely to royally screw things up!

I'll suggest you to install Wordpress on each subdomain and create two MySQL databases for each blog.

It is ok to have two databases in the same host.

By doing so, it is easier for you to manage.

You may even want to use separate "users" for each blog to keep them fully independent of each other.
