email maildir location?

I have enabled maildir/imap access for my mail and have a "Maildir" directory in the root of my acct. In the new/cur directories are the emails that I can see in my inbox through squirrelmail but there are not directories or files for my Inbox subdirs or my Sent directories. Where can I find this mail so that I can back it up?

The files are there, but they are hidden in the Linux/Unix sense - meaning the names begin with a period (example - .Sent).

To see these in a SSH session, you can type:
ls -a

If you create a backup/tar file of the directory, the information should be included automatically when you archive the Maildir/ directory.
