Emulating .Mac services

I have stumbled on a way to emulate a .mac account. It requires a server capable of webdav access (which is included with Dreamhost) and a bit of scriting here and there.

I am not an expert in this type of this and wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions?

I had a quick look at the tnpi site and I saw that it mentioned adding lines to and modifying the Apache config file and chowning the owner if it is not www. Unless setting up the webdav does this automatically you could be stuck not being able to access the Apache config file, unless it could be done via an .htaccess file.
