I just started hosting a new domain on DreamHost and am using Gmail for e-mail. What is my user name and password for logging in to my account @domainname.com?

That's something you set up over at Gmail, assuming you followed the link DreamHost gave you to admin your Gmail account.
If you haven't set it up yet, go to the panel here under Domains -> Manage Domains and then Edit for that domain. In there, you'll get a link to register at Google Apps, which is the entry point for administrating your account there.
