Looking for a new CMS

Looking for a new CMS

Hello, I am creating a music website where artists can sign up and upload their own music and other users can comment. Is there any specific CMS aimed towards music communities? Or what is the best CMS to use with the addition of modules and stuff?

I don't know about music in particular but take a look at http://www.opensourcecms.com/. it has demos of various cms software. A quick web search on any you fancy should let you find what plugins are available.

I'll wager that you're going to run into some problems with a lot of existing web applications. The default php install is set to accept maximum file size for uploads in the neighborhood of 7mb. Most mixes are likely to be larger than that, so you'll probably need to look into integrating with ftp uploads.

Joomla is a pretty solid candidate for features in a cms, and the all videos plugin is pretty great for allowing embedding of both audio and video.

I have used Joomla, and I love it. I have used the All Videos Plugin, but it is not what I'm looking for. If in using Joomla, I would want something like this http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,2523/Itemid,35/ but have the ability for artists themselves to post their own music.

Another option would be to find a site similar to what you want and send them an email asking what they use or ook at the page source to see if that gives any clues as to what its based on.
