I've having problems with captcha and a Gallery addon for phpbb. either one will show an image. All I can figure out is it is GD related. Can anyone help, I'm going nuts trying to figure this out.

You're likely to either get more immediate responses or more helpful responses if you're able to provide more specific description of the exact problem you're having as well as your setup.
I know it's tedious but it helps people to figure out what your problem is.
Also, I found the following sentence in your post a bit confusing:
In reply to:either one will show an image.
Did you mean "neither one will show an image"?
