When will DM upgrade to PHP 5.2.0?

When will DM upgrade to PHP 5.2.0?

I am wondering when will be the timeframe for DM to upgrade to PHP 5.2.0 which has been available for a few months.

The reason I am asking is that I need the native json support which was built into php 5.2.0 by default.

You could always do a custom php5 install if you need it that badly.

Info is available here:
http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/Main_Page

If you aren't interested in doing it yourself, I'd be happy to install it for you.. though I'm not going to do it for free either, so your best bet is on your own (and by asking for help on the forums wink).

Otherwise, no clue on how soon DH will have PHP 5.20 up.

Their newsletter said the PHP 5.20 update would be completed this week, and it looks like most of my sites are already updated.

That has been my experience also; though the Control Panel screen still reports PHP 5.12 as being "selected", phpinfo() reports the PHP version as being 5.20.

I suspect they will change the Control Panel screen when all the server upgrades have been completed. wink

Good point! I forgot about that mention in the news letter smile

Looks like it'll be very soon then.

My domains, at least the ones that are using the default DreamHost PHP install, are now showing 5.2.0 smile

5.2.0 Bug kills Zen Cart.

Looks like DH is over to PHP 5.2.0. Apparently there is a bug in 5.2.0 that kills Zen Cart.

Zen Cart users can find a fix on their boards at - http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpost.php?p=287587&postcount=26

Make sure that you modify both:
/includes/functions/sessions.php
/admin/includes/functions/sessions.php

*ouch*

This is one of the primary reasons I like having a local PHP install on my 'important' domains. I can wait for the dust to settle on any PHP updates, and update my own install(s) when I am comfortable that it won't break anything important.

Thanks for the "heads up"! Luckily, it's looks like an easy fix - just an "inconvenience" really, but aggravating as hell if you don't know what's happened, or know the fix.

Again, thanks for letting us know! smile
