Website migration/MySQL/Gallery issue

I'm looking to transfer a website and start hosting it under my dreamhost account. As part of this transfer, I'm looking ditch my old picture album and use Gallery2 on the dreamhost server. Before I move the domain registration I'd like to have the webisite mirrored and the new gallery built. My problem is that when I generate the db for Gallery, it gets built at mysql.foobar.dreamhosters.com, since I haven't moved the domain yet. Once I move the domain, is there a way to change the db host to mysql.foobar.com and keep the database I've already built?

It seems it is a moot point. All db hostnames seem to be interchangable. Thus if I make db_0 at mysql0.foobar.com and db_1 at mysql1.foobar.dreamhosters.com, I can access db_0 at mysql1.foobar.dreamhosters.com just as well. Is there any reason then to create more than one mysql subdomain? Just curious.
