Gallery2 is Slooow

At first I thought Gallery2 was just slower than I would expect because of its design. However, a friend of mine pointed out that his Gallery2 setup is running just fine, and I actually tend to agree. Mine has a lot slower 'reaction time' to clicks than his has.

Mine is hosting on Dreamhost and his is hosted elsewhere. Notice how much peppier his is compared with mine. Any suggestions?

Several things:

1.) Login to your site admin account on gallery2, go to the Gallery / Performance section and enable full acceleration for all users. (Mine is set to 1 day).

2.) Try out the suggestion in this wiki article. http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/PHP_FastCGI

For reference, my gallery2 site is running with the above changes on dreamhost.. (if you care to compare speed).
