Outgoing bandwidth cronjob question

I have made a script where it runs as a cron job and pings a server every 15 minutes, if it is down it sends a text message to a mobile phone. I got two questions. Would dreamhost be ok with having this run on their server since it is steady outgoing traffic every 15 minutes. Second, would dreamhost be ok with me offering this service to my forum members? This might mean 200+ pings every 15 minutes. Is dreamhost okwith running cron jobs in such short time intervals? How about 5 minutes?

If you want an official answer, you should contact support directly. Generally, cron jobs that don't impact the server or bandwidth "significantly" are probably ok, but some persistent processes may be killed on sight if they cause problems.
