Pingbacks/Trackbacks & Wordpress 1.5

Why aren't Trackbacks and Pingbacks working in Wordpress? I heard some ugly rumor that it has to do with something DreamHost did. Say it ain't so...

It seems to be due to DH disabling allow_url_fopen() (for security reasons). This should be fixed in WP v1.5.1.

Yeah I saw that over at WP, and that is what prompted me to post here. I had been hoping that maybe (just maybe) the DH crew might have a temp work-around. They are pretty sharp and good that way.

BTW; it's nice to see someone from WP hanging around here.

There are some work-arounds (ex: using CURL instead of fopen), but there's just too much to change in WP if you want to go that way. I'm confident that Matt will have a fix by v1.5.1.
