Gallery2 stopped after php downgrade

Because of forum problems I had to switch php from 5.2 to 4.4 and now my gallery2 isn't working. Just get a blank page.
If I switch back to php5.2 it works again but then my forum problems are back.

Anyone know what I need to do to get the gallery working with php 4.4?

It should work with 4.3 or higher. Do you have anything else turned on, like FastCGI or a Gallery Plugin that might interfere? How about the fancy URL Rewrite that uses (damn, can't remember) not .htaccess, but that other mechanism.

Which forum are you using? Is Gallery embedded in the Forum?
