Trouble installing CommunityEngine

Hello -- I'm trying to install CommunityEngine (http://missingmethod.brunobornsztein.com/projects/community_engine/), and am having a lot of trouble. I have installed Ruby on Rails apps on DreamHost in the past, and so am aware of the basic pitfalls, but in this case I'm stumped. Any guidance you can offer would be wonderful.
