1Click Install: Joomla PHP errors?

Has anyone else noticed this? I have a pretty bog-standard one-click install of Joomla, and if I go to the administration panel, then Global Configuration, the top part of the page is filled with PHP errors...similar to:

[Snip]libraries/joomla/cache/cache.php on line 139
Mac OS X 2??ATTR B???M?Mcom.apple.quarantineq/0000;47b3726c;Safari;290CEEA3-7EF0-443F-ABBF-1197B60D720F|com.apple.Safari

I've never been that fond of Macs, and this isn't helping :-)

Has anyone else done a recent install? Can you confirm you are seeing this error...so I know it's not just me?

I just did a new "one-click" install of Joomla! 1.5 a few days ago, and I had no such problem (I know that is not much help).

Unfortunately, the forum software kinda munged your error message, so I can't really read it, but it seems to be cache related. Searching for what I could read of your error message produced this related thread on the Joomla forums:

http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=429&p=1245460

I'm wondering if it is Joomla! 1.5.1 related?

Thanks for the link! Hmm...yep my errors seem to be the same as in that post...and they are using Dreamhost 1-click installs too. Although I think they are upgrading and I am doing a fresh install on a brand new domain (so I'm struggling a bit to think how it could be something specific to my install)

And the forum isn't munging the error, that's what it is being displaied as (pre-munged!). Specfically:

Yep. I see now that the forum didn't munge things at all. I'm in the process right now of "one-click" upgrading an existing 1.5 "one-click": test site that I keep around for that purpose, and I'll post back with what I see there when it is done (should be just a few minutes).

In the meantime, I'm wondering, did you try "cleaning the cache" in the Joomla! 1.5.1 administrative back-end? (Tools -> Clean Cache)?

I'd give that a quick try, and see if the caching data is just borked.

Yeah .. I can confirm that something is messed up either with the DH one-click installer or with Joomla 1.5.1 on DreamHost.

After "upgrading" a working Joomla! !.5.0 "once-click" install with the one-click upgrader, I get the same results as you, and the others have reported.

"Cleaning the Cache" also did not appear to hel0p - though reading through all the errors produced, it looks like session handling is also involved. frown

Whether it is the DreamHost one-click installer for 1.5.1, or Joomla! I have not yet determined. I think I'll try to do a manual install of 1.5.1 on my DreamHost server to try to see if *that* works.

One other thing: my "upgraded" 1.5.0 version still says it is running 1.5.0 in the admin panel, though it *is* exhibiting the error condition repoprted to be in version 1.5.1.

This makes me wonder if DH has their distribution files borked between versions or if there is some breakage in the Joomla package for 1.5.1 - it *should* be reporting itself as 1.5.1, so something is definitely wrong and it will take some more investigation to get it sorted.

I'll post back with what I find after a *manual* install of 1.5.1 on DH.

Okay ... it appears to be a problem with the one-click installer. I wiped the old installation, and manually installed Joomla 1.5.1 and the problem went away.

Note that even though the admin screen reports version 1.5.0 in in the upper right portion of the Joomla! Admin back-end header, the System Info (under "Help") correctly reports the version as "Joomla! 1.5.1 Production/Stable [ Seenu ] 8-February-2008 22:00 GMT "

It looks like until they get this sorted, manual installation is the way to go. I've submitted a ticket to let support know of the problem.

Note: I only tried the Joomla_1.5.1-Stable-Full_Package.tar.gz tarball, so I can't speak for the zip or bz2 archives, but I doubt Joomla! has those borked wink

Cool - glad it's not just me. Thanks for testing that! Much appreciated.

No problem, and you are welcome. I think the manual install is the way to go. Actually, if you already have a database created (and you should from the previous install), it is probably "less clicks" than the "one-click" installer when done from the shell with wget and tar.

Just run two commands, then browse to the install page just like with the one-click installer wink

Bummer. Me too. I tried clean cache, and other system checks to no avail. Let us know what Support says.

Did you ever receive a response from support?

Actually I *did* but I forgot to post back (sorry!). It seems there was a short period (a few hours/less than a day) when the "newest" version upgrade was borked, and we must have just been "unlucky".

I re-did the install a few days later (and have done several since) and all is working properly now.

I *still* prefer manual installs of this stuff wink
